Has anyone before Christ ever gone into heaven?
Genesis 5:24, "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."
Hebrews 11:5, "By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God."
2 Kings 2:11, "As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind."
John 3:13, "No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven -- the Son of Man."
According to Genesis and Hebrews, Enoch was taken away by God before he could experience death. According to 2 Kings, Elijah was the second person taken alive by God and was reported to have gone to heaven. However, according to John, no one but Christ has ever gone into heaven.
"Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth."
(Ecclesiastes 7:3-4, KJV)
"Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun."
(Ecclesiastes 8:15, KJV)
