Did Jehoahaz or Shallum succeed Josiah as king of Judah?
2 Chronicles 36:1, "And the people of the land took Jehoahaz son of Josiah and made him king in Jerusalem in place of his father."
Jeremiah 22:11, "For this is what the LORD says about Shallum son of Josiah, who succeeded his father as king of Judah but has gone from this place..."
According to 2 Chronicles chapter 36, Jehoahaz son of Josiah was made king in Jerusalem in place of his father, however, according to Jeremiah chapter 22, Shallum son of Josiah succeeded his father as king of Judah.
"Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth."
